Sleep health and OSA.
Breathe easy and sleep soundly.
We spend about one-third of our lives sleeping, and it is just as essential for our physical and mental health as eating and drinking. Quality sleep plays a vital role in supporting a healthy immune system, regulating hormones, aiding memory and learning, repairing tissues, and maintaining emotional wellbeing.
Occasional sleep disturbances can affect anyone and are not necessarily a cause for concern. However, persistent sleep disorders can severely disrupt the body’s ability to restore and repair itself, leading to daytime fatigue, poor concentration, mood changes, and a weakened immune system.
Some sleep disorders are serious and may accompany us throughout our lives. These include sleep apnoea, which is characterised by significant breathing interruptions during the night. If left untreated, the syndrome can result in serious long-term health complications such as high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
